With the arrival of warm weather, the demand for seasonal products traditionally rises in Latvian stores, and ice cream remains one of the essential attributes of summer. The LaTS retail chain features Zīļuks ice cream prominently.
Commercial Director Vitaly Roshchin notes that during the summer season, shoppers increasingly value a good price-to-quality ratio.
"In the summer, people look for products that allow them to enjoy the season without overpaying. That’s why Zīļuks ice cream is one of our most popular summer products," says Roshchin.
The online store also offers various types of Zīļuks ice cream. Prices for individual items start at €0.30, making them some of the most affordable on the market.
The name "Zīļuks" in the LaTS network appeared not by chance. It is linked to a long-standing symbol of the network. "For customers, Zīļuks is associated with affordability and great deals. Therefore, it is quite logical that our signature ice cream bears this name. It reflects the main idea — to offer a quality product at a price accessible to everyone," explains Roshchin.
In summer, demand is growing not only for ice cream. Shoppers are more actively purchasing seasonal fruits, berries, refreshing drinks, and other products related to outdoor recreation, trips, and family events. However, locally produced products still hold an important place in consumer preferences.
According to observations by the LaTS network, people are increasingly paying attention to the origin of products and choosing goods from local producers. This trend is particularly noticeable in regions where local products have traditionally enjoyed high trust.
"We see that customers value local products not only for patriotic reasons. Freshness, short delivery routes, and trust in local producers are important to them. In summer, this trend becomes even more pronounced," says Roshchin.
The company Latvijas Tirgotāju savienība was founded in 2007 with the aim of uniting small and medium-sized Latvian food retailers, reducing their costs, and increasing competitiveness. Currently, the network comprises about 270 enterprises and has over 700 retail outlets across Latvia.
