Sports commentator Vladimir Sinitsin, known for his work on Eurosport, passed away in Germany from aortic rupture at the age of 75.
Vladimir Sinitsin also held the title of international referee in snooker. In 1989, Sinitsin was elected the first president of the Billiards Federation of Latvia, and in 1995 he became the first champion of Latvia in snooker.
He was born on May 6, 1952, in the city of Kuvshinovo, Kalinin region. From the age of three, he lived permanently in Riga. He graduated from a physics and mathematics school, the Riga Polytechnic Institute (specializing in "Electronic Computing Machines"), and the University of Latvia (specializing in "Journalism").
Since 1981, Sinitsin began working as a sports commentator on Latvian television (hockey, basketball). At the same time, he worked in the sports department of the newspaper "Soviet Youth." He was one of the authors of the book "The M-Triangle, or Strangers Do Not Walk Here" (about documentary observations of UFOs and anomalous phenomena).
In 1989, Sinitsin was elected the first president of the Billiards Federation of Latvia. In 1995, he became the first champion of Latvia in snooker.
Since 2000, Vladimir Sinitsin worked as a commentator for snooker and poker for the Russian-language division of the "Eurosport" channel. He also worked as a hockey commentator on Latvian television. Since 2005, he has been a regular snooker commentator on "Eurosport." In 2008, he commented on the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics held in Beijing on Eurosport.
Until recently, Sinitsin worked as a commentator on the channels Viasat Sport and Eurosport 1, and for many years he has been the most recognized voice of snooker in the Russian-speaking world.
