The singer Atvara representing Latvia at Eurovision 2026 with the song 'In the Shadow' ('Ēnā') was unable to advance to the final and is returning home.
The probability of Latvia winning is estimated at about 0.3%. However, the chances of reaching the final were still relatively high. But it was not meant to be.
The main problem with the song performed in Latvian was initially considered too "quiet" and not very memorable for mass televoting compared to the bright and more "viral" numbers of the favorites. However, the main thing is not winning – the main thing is participation.
A couple of hours before Atvara's performance, the resigned Prime Minister Evika Siliņa made a post on social media. She published a video with the singer and wrote:
"This evening, wherever everyone is, we are at the screens with warmth in our hearts and pride for Latvia supporting Atvara with the song 'Shadow' at Eurovision in Vienna. Let the Latvian language and Latvian name be heard far and wide! Fingers crossed!".
