On Friday, Latvia will maintain warm spring weather: in most regions, the air will warm up to +18…+22 degrees. However, brief rains and thunderstorms are possible in parts of Kurzeme.
Friday in Latvia will predominantly be characterized by warm and dry weather, although meteorologists forecast brief precipitation in some areas of the country.
According to meteorologists, rain is possible in parts of Kurzeme, as well as thunderstorms. Light precipitation is also not ruled out in the border areas in the east of the country.
Throughout the day, the sun will periodically hide behind clouds, with more cloudiness expected in the eastern part of Latvia.
The air temperature in most regions will rise to +18…+22 degrees, which already resembles the beginning of summer more than mid-May.
It will remain cooler on the coast of the Gulf of Riga in Kurzeme, as well as in the border areas with Russia — there, temperatures are expected to be around +12…+15 degrees.
The wind will be light, predominantly from the east.
In Riga, the day promises to be dry and warm. The air will warm up to about +21 degrees, although it will be noticeably cooler by the sea due to the northern wind.
Such weather is particularly favorable for walks and outdoor work; however, meteorologists also remind of the other side of a dry spring.
In the western and central parts of the country, especially in Zemgale and the surroundings of Riga, there remains a high fire hazard in the forests.
This means that even a small source of fire can quickly lead to the ignition of dry grass or forest litter.
Current weather conditions are being shaped by an area of low pressure, with atmospheric pressure ranging from 1004 to 1008 hectopascals.
After a cool start to May, the current warming has become one of the most noticeable in recent weeks, although meteorologists do not yet promise stable summer weather.
