Law enforcement agencies are investigating possible corruption violations at the Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital. The criminal process is related to suspicions of the demand and acceptance of illegal benefits.
An investigation into possible corruption at the Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital has been launched in Latvia.
The prosecutor's office confirmed that the State Police is conducting a criminal process under the Criminal Law article regarding the demand and acceptance of illegal benefits.
The investigation is under the supervision of the prosecutor's office for the investigation of crimes in public service.
Details of the case have not yet been disclosed.
The State Police declined to comment, so it is currently unknown how many people may be connected to the investigation, whether it concerns specific purchases, contracts, or actions of individual officials.
In fact, this is not the first case in recent years where large state medical institutions have come under the scrutiny of law enforcement agencies.
Stradiņš Hospital is one of the largest and most strategically important hospitals in the country, where large-scale infrastructure projects are implemented and significant state procurements take place.
Against the backdrop of recent political and corruption scandals in Latvia, attention to the transparency of public institutions has noticeably increased.
