On Wednesday, the central and eastern regions of Latvia will be under heavy rain, and thunderstorms are possible in some areas. Meanwhile, the air temperature in many areas will not rise above +10 degrees.
In the middle of the week, the weather in Latvia will remain damp and cool. The most rainy conditions are expected in the central and eastern parts of the country, where heavy precipitation is forecasted in some areas.
At the border with Russia, meteorologists do not rule out thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, in Kurzeme, precipitation will be significantly less. In the western part of the country, rain will occur only in some places and will mostly be light.
The day is expected to be overcast almost throughout Latvia. Due to the dense cloud cover, the air temperature will warm up only to +8..+12 degrees. Only in the first half of the day in the extreme east of the country, the temperature may rise to about +16 degrees.
In Riga, typical rainy May weather is also forecasted — the sky will remain overcast with clouds, and the most intense precipitation is expected closer to the second half of the day.
The wind will be weak, predominantly from the west and southwest.
What is important to know: after a relatively warm start to May, the temperature is now noticeably lower than what many have already gotten used to. Due to high humidity and light winds, the weather may feel even cooler.
Meteorologists explain the current situation as being influenced by a low-pressure area, which continues to determine the weather in the region.
The atmospheric pressure in the country is 996–998 hPa — these are relatively low figures characteristic of unstable and rainy weather.
