An unpleasant situation - many travelers have not only purchased airline tickets but also booked hotels, trains, and rental cars...

Due to the aviation crisis and rising fuel prices, airlines around the world are canceling thousands of flights. Recently, passengers of the Latvian airBaltic also began receiving notifications about flight cancellations.

On the social network Threads, travelers reported receiving emails from airBaltic about the cancellation of summer flights, including to Prague and Munich. Some passengers fear that this is just the beginning and are preparing for possible cancellations of their own flights.

Judging by the comments, the cancellations of airBaltic flights have caused a wave of discontent among passengers. People are complaining about canceled summer flights to Aberdeen, Antalya, Alicante, Thessaloniki, and other destinations, as well as fearing new changes to the schedule.

Some users write that they refrained from purchasing airBaltic tickets in advance due to the fear of flight cancellations.

Others describe the situation as “unserious” and express concerns about the financial state of the airline.

AirBaltic itself stated that summer flights on the Riga - Aberdeen route are not currently planned for cancellation, and passengers of canceled September flights are offered alternative options or refunds.

Particular dissatisfaction among customers arises from the fact that many have already booked hotels, cars, and entertainment, and now risk losing money due to changes in the schedule.

Meanwhile, as stated by TV3, airBaltic's head of public and political relations, Augusts Zilberts, the airline, like other carriers, regularly reviews its route network, adapting it to passenger demand, commercial conditions, and the overall market situation.

According to him, airBaltic is currently making individual changes to the summer schedule for the 2026 season for the period from June to October. This is part of standard commercial optimization related to the level of demand and rising aviation fuel prices.

The company emphasized that the changes will affect only a small portion of the total volume of flights, and the number of canceled routes will be less than during the previous schedule adjustment at the beginning of the summer season.

At the same time, airBaltic continues to carry out its current summer program as planned, closely monitoring the situation with fuel prices and demand.
