Every time I have to read about yet another case of corruption and incompetence of our authorities, I think, "and these people are banning us from buying alcohol after eight in the evening"? Meanwhile, a discussion has erupted online about the benefits and harms of such a ban.
It started with a user from the X network, Balanda:
What has happened to those who were pulling their hair out in panic over the fact that alcohol would only be sold until 8 PM? Are you still alive? Have you become teetotalers or have you drunk yourself into a stupor from stress?
Kaspars Zariņš: So now it turns out that instead of buying two or three, you can take four or five... I don’t know, I’m just asking!
Dagnis Isaks: Isn’t the right question whether alcohol consumption has decreased or not? The previous restrictions were completely ineffective, so why do the same thing?
Meža strazds: There will always be people who rejoice in new prohibitions and even take pleasure in them, without considering whether there is any sense in it. It’s sad.
Inga Springe Nepareizā: Restrictions on alcohol sales in the evenings have a devastating impact on birth rates.
Aivars Jūrkalns: The ban on alcohol sees ONLY alcohol, not the preparation of society for the new EU order and control with idiotic and increasingly strict limitations with each subsequent step.
