Next week marks the end of the transition period for the implementation of electronic referrals to specialists.
Paper referrals issued earlier will be valid only until May 4. Considering that this is a holiday, it can be said that paper referrals have already ceased to be valid.
Starting May 5, to make an appointment with a doctor, you will need:
🔹 an electronic referral through the E-veselība system;
🔹 or an old paper referral, but in electronic form.
You can digitize the document with your treating physician or at the registration desk of the medical institution.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Health of Latvia, the reform aims to reduce waiting times and prevent situations where a patient simultaneously makes an appointment for the same service in multiple places.
Without a referral, you can still directly contact a gynecologist, pediatrician, and ophthalmologist.
