In Latvia, decommissioned old electric trains and a shunting locomotive have been put up for sale, many of which have been in operation on the railway for decades and are now going under the hammer.
JSC Pasažieru vilciens (PV), operating under the brand Vivi, has put 23 electric train cars and one shunting locomotive up for electronic auction. This is evidenced by information on the electronic trading site izsoles.ta.gov.lv.
According to the auction conditions, the company is selling decommissioned electric train cars of the ER2 and ER2T series — motor, head, and trailer cars, a total of 22 units, as well as the TGM-40 locomotive.
The ER2 and ER2T cars were produced at the Riga Carriage Factory and were intended for suburban and regional passenger transport. The ER2 series was produced from 1962 to 1984, while the ER2T was produced from 1986 to 1996 as an improved modification of the ER2.
The TGM-40 locomotive was manufactured in 1987. It is a low-power shunting locomotive with a diesel engine and hydraulic transmission.
The auctions are scheduled to conclude on May 5 of this year.
