The statistical office notes that the wage gap between women and men in Latvia still persists; however, there is a long-term trend towards its reduction, although compared to 2024, the gap has increased by 2.9 percentage points.

The difference in wages between men and women is determined by various social and economic factors: profession and job responsibilities, level of education, age, work experience, number of hours worked, as well as trends in supply and demand in the labor market and its structural changes, the CSO notes, adding that the indicator is calculated without excluding the influence of these factors, which can explain the reasons for the differences.
