Every fourth resident of Latvia experiences dizziness or nausea from swinging on swings during Easter, according to a survey conducted by the agency Norstat.

In the survey, 24% of respondents admitted that they experienced dizziness or nausea after swinging, and less frequently — increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, as well as back or joint pain.

At the same time, the majority — 58% — indicated that they had never experienced any discomfort after swinging. This was confirmed by 65% of men and about half of the surveyed women.

Overall, swinging on swings during Easter remains relevant for more than half of the adult population of Latvia. Women swing more often than men, and among age groups, the most active participants are people aged 18 to 29, as well as those aged 50 to 59.

The most active swinging occurs in Vidzeme and Kurzeme, while it is least common in Latgale. In the Riga region, swinging is also less widespread — 42% of respondents do not swing. The authors of the study suggest that such differences may be related to the lower availability of swings for adults.
