“If you work with students, schoolchildren, you must be able to sing. If a teacher cannot sing the anthem, then what can they do?” asked Chief Conductor Arvids Platpers in an interview with “nra.lv TV sarunas.”
“Do you think all teachers can sing the anthem? They just mumble. They know the words, thank God, but many subject teachers simply ignore it,” Platpers shared his observations.
The conductor also has an important question he would like to ask all of Latvia: why is there no choir in the Ministry of Education? “Why don’t they want to create a choir and show — this is who we are!” he wonders.
