Shadow Day Takes Place Across Latvia

Today, the career education event "Shadow Day" is taking place across Latvia, where students get acquainted with various professions by "following the shadow" of representatives from their chosen field in their daily work, the educational organization "Junior Achievement Latvia" reported to the LETA agency.

The aim of the event is to help young people better understand career choices and make more informed decisions about their future careers.

This year, a new solution has also been implemented on the "Shadow Day" platform — an artificial intelligence-based test that helped students select the most suitable shadowing opportunities according to their interests and personality type. By answering 11 questions, young people could receive recommendations for the most appropriate career paths.

The organizers note that "Shadow Day" benefits employers as well, as it allows them to introduce young people to their work environment and attract future employees.

Last year, over 2,200 "shadows" participated in the event, offering more than 13,000 vacancies. Among students, the most sought-after professions were police inspector, firefighter-rescuer, lawyer, programmer, and pharmacist.
