In Riga, bus number 10, which runs from Abrenes Street to Jaunmarupe, will also stop at Lucavsala, the LETA agency was informed by the external communications department of the Riga City Council.
Three new stops are planned to be established at Lucavsala to provide more convenient access to necessary facilities.
As explained by the municipality, a new street infrastructure has been created at Lucavsala, with public transport stops and a turnaround area equipped, which will allow for transportation links closer to the family garden plots located in the southern part of the island.
Currently, the nearest public transport stops are located at the Island Bridge and at the roundabout on Mukusalas Street.
Bus route 10 from Abrenes Street will follow the route to Mukusalas Street, then turn from the roundabout onto Lucavsala Street, continue along Laivu Street to the turnaround area, after which it will return along Laivu and Lucavsala Streets to the roundabout on Mukusalas Street, then proceed to Ulmanis Gatve and continue towards Jaunmarupe.
From Jaunmarupe, buses will follow the route to Ulmanis Gatve, then turn from the roundabout on Mukusalas Street onto Lucavsala Street, continue along Laivu Street to the turnaround area and back along the same streets, after which they will continue along Mukusalas Street towards Abrenes Street.
The bus will start operating on the new route after receiving all necessary approvals.
