Latvia will find it difficult to catch up with even Estonia and Lithuania.

Janis Hermanis, an expert from the Latvian Confederation of Employers, drew attention on the social network Facebook to the data on the external trade balance of goods and services as a percentage of GDP for all 27 EU countries. This balance as a percentage of GDP is determined by subtracting imports from exports.

Unfortunately, we are also at the bottom of this indicator, with Latvia ranking third from the bottom - with a negative balance, meaning imports prevail over exports. Latvia's indicator is minus 4.6%. The situation is worse only for Croatia - minus 5.1% and Romania - minus 5.4%.

What about our neighbors in the Baltics? Estonia has this indicator at plus 1%, while Lithuania has plus 3.6%.

The top three leaders in the EU are Ireland - plus 40.2%, Luxembourg (31.1%), and Malta (19.2%). Denmark and the Netherlands also have something to boast about - plus 11.3%.
