"Rīgas satiksme" plans to sign a contract for the supply of 120 buses by the end of the year.
The municipal company "Rīgas satiksme" (RS) plans to sign a contract for the supply of 120 new buses by the end of the year, RS informed the LETA agency.
Currently, a market study for the procurement of 18-meter buses has been completed, and discussions with suppliers have begun. A total of 120 buses are planned to be purchased, including 60 electric buses and 60 diesel buses.
Ten bus manufacturers have expressed interest in the procurement.
The estimated cost of the 120 buses is approximately 60-65 million euros. To acquire them, the company plans to take out a loan from a bank and will also consider the possibility of attracting funding from European Union funds for the purchase of electric buses.
RS plans to announce the bus procurement in April.
As reported, in November last year, the company announced a market study aimed at procuring 100 new trolleybuses and 24 trams.
The turnover of RS in 2024, excluding subsidies from state and municipal budgets, is projected to be 52.423 million euros, with a profit of 1.75 million euros.
