Already on the night before the weekend, the air temperature in Latvia will drop to −28 degrees.
On Saturday, low air temperatures are expected in Latvia, and sunny weather will prevail in most parts of the country, forecasters predict.
The sky will be mostly clear, with more cloudy weather expected in Northern Kurzeme and northeastern areas of the country. Light snow and frost are possible in some places.
The wind will mostly be weak, coming from the east and northeast.
Nighttime temperatures will drop to −21…−28 degrees, with some areas in Kurzeme and western Vidzeme reaching −15…−20 degrees, and at Cape Kolka, down to −9 degrees.
The maximum daytime temperature will be −10…−17 degrees, with the air warming up to −7…−10 degrees in northern Kurzeme.
In Riga, sunny weather is expected on the last day of January, with no precipitation and a light eastern wind. At night, the air will cool down to −19 degrees, with some suburban areas reaching −24 degrees. By midday, the temperature will rise to −11 degrees.
