Member of the European Parliament Rihards Kols (NA) has made a statement that he submitted a complaint to the State Security Service regarding the public statements of former MEP Andrei Mamykins on Russian television.
In a letter to the security service, Kols cites specific statements made by Mamykins in January of this year on the Russian television channel "Russia 1 — Evening with Vladimir Solovyov." On air, Mamykins stated: "If you plan to conduct exercises with the 'Oreshnik' without nuclear warheads, using only kinetic strikes, then do it against the Baltic states, because they are not worth pitying." He urged to "enjoy" such a strike with popcorn and noted that he would like the death of Latvians.
Kols informed his followers on Facebook: "I have submitted a statement to the State Security Service regarding the public statements of Andrei Mamykins on Russian television, in which he calls for a military attack on the Baltic states.
For context: since July 2024, Mamykins has been wanted internationally for glorifying Russia's war crimes and spreading propaganda. A criminal case was initiated in 2023, and a European arrest warrant was issued. He continues to express hostile and inciting rhetoric directed against Latvia and other Baltic states. One day he will have to answer for this."
