On Tuesday evening, a significant drop in air temperature is expected across most of Latvia under clear and windless weather, meteorologists predict.
On the night of Wednesday, temperatures in many regions of the country will drop to -20 to -25 degrees. It will be warmer in areas with cloud cover, mainly in Kurzeme, where temperatures will not fall below -10 degrees.
Fog and rime are expected in some places, and there may be northern lights.
During the day, partial cloudiness is forecasted, with possible snowfall. A weak to moderate eastern wind will blow, with gusts of up to 15 meters per second along the Kurzeme coast of the Gulf of Riga.
The maximum air temperature on Wednesday will be -3 to -9 degrees, and in the south of the country, it may reach -12 degrees.
In Riga, variable cloudiness is expected, with no precipitation. Nighttime temperatures in the city center will be around -15 degrees, and in the suburbs, it may drop to -22 degrees. During the day, temperatures will rise to -8 degrees.
