At the beginning of last year, there were 997,641 women and 862,924 men living in Latvia, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau, reports LETA.
Thus, the number of women exceeded the number of men by 134,717 people.
There were fewer men in all state cities and almost all regions of Latvia, except for the Rezekne, Saulkrasti, and Ventspils regions. In the Rezekne region, at the beginning of 2025, there were 13,966 men and 13,743 women, in the Saulkrasti region — 5,012 men and 4,971 women, and in the Ventspils region — 5,191 men and 5,104 women.
The most common age among residents of Latvia at the beginning of last year was 37 years — there were a total of 29,567 people of that age. Of these, 15,238 were men and 14,329 were women.
