The partnership of LLC "Reģionālie projekti" and the society "Baltijas krasti" has begun developing a new nature conservation plan for Dole Island Nature Park for the next 12 years on behalf of the Salaspils municipality, LETA reports, citing information from the Salaspils municipality website.
The goal of the plan is to align the tasks of nature conservation, the use of natural resources, and the development of the area in such a way as to preserve the purpose of creating this protected area and its natural values, as well as to reconcile the interests of the local community, landowners, area managers, and entrepreneurs with the interests of nature conservation.
The development of the new plan will allow for summarizing the changes that have occurred over the past 15 years, assessing the current state of biotopes and species, the ecosystem services provided, landscape, and other values of the area.
The plan will include recommendations for the further use of the territory.
An informational meeting regarding the start of the nature conservation plan development will take place on February 9 at 18:00 in the Salaspils municipality building.
Dole Island Nature Park is a Natura 2000 area. The park was established in 1987 in the Salaspils region and covers an area of 1,044 hectares.
