Almost 40% of Residents Are Willing to Give Up Long Weekends Due to the Transfer of Workdays

Should Latvia change the existing order of transferring workdays to Saturday if it falls between holidays? The survey explored public opinion on this and other issues related to work and weekends, reports the program '900 Seconds' (TV3).

Residents of Latvia aged 18 to 65 were asked to express their opinions on various initiatives regarding the order of work and rest in the country.

More than a third (37%) of respondents indicated that they support the proposal to abandon the transfer of workdays if one workday falls between holidays/weekends (18% fully support; 19% somewhat support).

At the same time, half (52%) of the survey participants stated that they do not support such an initiative.

About one-tenth (11%) did not express a specific opinion on this proposal.

One-fifth (23%) of residents of Latvia aged 18 to 65 support the initiative to abandon an additional day off if November 18 and/or May 4 fall on a weekend. However, the majority (68%) stated that they do not support such an idea.

Almost 9% of respondents did not express a definite opinion on this issue.

7% of those surveyed expressed support for the proposal to cancel the increased wage rate for work on holidays. At the same time, the absolute majority (88%) indicated that they do not support such an initiative.

5% did not express a specific opinion on this proposal.
