Where the Lowest Temperature in Latvia Was Recorded This Week

The lowest air temperature this week in Latvia was recorded at weather stations in Kurzeme - in Rucava, Stende, and Dobele, where under clear weather conditions, the temperature dropped to -16 degrees, according to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC).

In some places, it was several degrees colder. A similar phenomenon was observed at the beginning of the week in Estonia, where the temperature locally dropped to -27 degrees on Tuesday night.

As reported, heavy snowfall occurred in Latvia in recent days.

At the beginning of January, the highest snow cover in the country was recorded in southern Kurzeme - in Rucava, where 30 centimeters of snow fell.

This is also the highest level of snow cover in Latvia since February 2024, when 37 centimeters of snow was recorded at the weather station in Dagda.
