The Valmiera Region municipality, following the results of the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, awarded municipal prizes for excellent academic performance to 706 students to promote their development and motivate them for new achievements, as well as to thank them for their successes in mastering academic subjects, reported public relations specialist Dzintars Močs.
In the group of grades 4-6, 305 students received a monetary award, in the group of grades 7-9 — 213 students, each receiving 30 euros, and in the group of grades 10-12 — 188 students, each receiving 60 euros.
To receive the Valmiera Region municipality award "For Excellent Academic Performance," students in grades 4-12 of educational institutions established by the Valmiera Region municipality must have grades for the first semester or academic year and final course grades (GPA) across all subjects in the range of 8.5 to 10 points, with no failing grades in any subject for the semester or year. If grades are not assigned in the first semester, the GPA is calculated based on the grades received in all subjects in final assessments.
Additionally, the student must not have unjustified absences from classes.
Awards are given twice during the academic year, based on performance assessments at the end of the first semester and at the end of the second semester, as well as for the academic year.
