On Friday morning, road conditions on state roads are generally satisfactory throughout Latvia, except for the section of Tallinn Highway from the Tūja intersection to Ainaži, according to summarized information from the State Joint Stock Company "Latvian State Roads" (LVD), writes LETA.
Traffic on regional roads is difficult throughout Latvia, except for the surroundings of Kuldīga, Jelgava, Aizkraukle, Jēkabpils, Rēzekne, and Smiltene.
Overall, the situation on the main roads on Friday morning is better than in previous days of this week; however, it should be noted that the situation may change significantly in the afternoon, as meteorologists forecast a heavy snowstorm, which may lead to snowdrifts on the roads.
On Friday morning, ten units of winter equipment are involved in clearing and salting snowy and icy sections of the roads. Maintenance work is being carried out in order of priority, with a focus on roads with the highest traffic intensity, reports the State Joint Stock Company "Latvian State Roads" (LVD).
