According to the Central Statistical Bureau, by the end of 2024, 24.7% of the population in Latvia was at risk of poverty.
Women faced a higher risk of poverty — by the end of 2024, 27.4% of women were affected. Among those aged 65 and older, nearly half, or 47.3%, of women in this age group were at risk of poverty.
Among women, the lowest risk of poverty was for those under 17 years old — 17.8% of women in this age group were affected.
Data shows that by the end of 2024, 21.5% of men were at risk of poverty. As with women, the highest risk among men was for those aged 65 and older — 34.9% were affected by poverty.
