At the end of November last year, there were 6263 unemployed people of pre-retirement age registered in Latvia, which is 2.6% more than at the end of October, but 11% less than at the beginning of January last year, according to information from the State Employment Agency.
The highest number of unemployed people of pre-retirement age in the 11 months of last year was recorded in February, when their number reached 7247 individuals.
The highest number of unemployed people of pre-retirement age – 1236 individuals – was registered in Riga at the end of November last year. This was followed by the Rezekne district with 335 such unemployed individuals and the Ludza district, where there were 321 unemployed people of pre-retirement age at the end of November.
Unemployed people of pre-retirement age are those unemployed individuals who have five years or less until they reach retirement age.
As previously reported, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia at the end of November was 4.8% of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage points higher than the previous month.
At the end of November 2025, a total of 41,671 unemployed individuals were registered with the NVA, which is 817 more than the previous month, when 40,854 unemployed individuals were registered with the agency.
