Riga's municipal services are ready to eliminate the aftermath of the storm, said Martiņš Vilemnsons, a representative of the Riga City Council's External Communication Department, to the LETA agency.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, a significant increase in wind strength is expected in Riga in the afternoon, which may reach storm force.
The Riga City Council urges residents to avoid being outdoors without a specific need, to refrain from visiting parks, cemeteries, recreational areas, and playgrounds, as gusts of wind may break trees and branches.
Municipal services will be involved in eliminating the consequences of the storm alongside the State Fire and Rescue Service, focusing on clearing areas of fallen trees, repairing damage to public transport contact networks, and other necessary work. Continuous monitoring of water level fluctuations will also be conducted in the capital, said Vilemnsons.
If the elements have caused damage that poses a threat to the health and life of people, utility services, and public transport movement, residents are urged to call the emergency number 112.
