The European Person of the Year 2025 in Latvia, according to the results of public voting, is recognized as the Secretary General of the Latvian Basketball Union Kaspars Ciprus.
In the final stage for the title of 'European Person of the Year in Latvia', board member and director of the 'Marta' Center Iluta Lace and artistic director and chief conductor of the choir 'Kamēr…' Jurgis Zabulis were also contenders.
Ciprus was nominated for the honorary title for ensuring the European Championship was held in Latvia and attracting European basketball fans.
Lace was nominated for her work in combating violence and her professional participation in public discussions, where she advocated for gender equality.
In turn, Zabulis was nominated for the international successes of the choir 'Kamēr…' in European choral competitions and for promoting Latvia's name.
The title holder is determined through public voting. This award is a way to thank a person who this year contributed to the integration of Europe and Latvia through their actions, note the organizers of the voting.
This year, more than 80 candidates were nominated for the title of 'European Person of the Year in Latvia'.
