This weekend, the air temperature in Latvia will rise slightly; however, frosts are possible on Christmas and New Year's, meteorologists predict, LETA reports.
On Thursday, December 18, fog is expected in many places, with light rain possible in some areas. No precipitation is forecasted for Friday. The air temperature will range from 0 to +7 degrees, with the warmest weather in Kurzeme.
On the night of Saturday, a vast area of precipitation will cross Latvia from the northwest: the most rain will fall in Vidzeme and on the western coast of Kurzeme, while rain is expected in Latgale during the day. With a light southwest wind, the air temperature will rise to +3 to +8 degrees. On Sunday, no significant precipitation is expected, and the air will become a few degrees cooler.
From December 22 to 24, rain and snow are possible. It is expected that a stable frost will set in on Christmas or immediately after the holidays, with dry frosts possible in parts of the country.
