The new working week will bring Latvia cloudy and unusually warm weather for December, according to forecasts from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Sunday, the sky will be covered with clouds, and for most of the territory, they will occasionally bring rain, with wet snow in some places in the east. A weak to moderate southern and southeastern wind will blow. The air temperature will range from -1 to +3 degrees both at night and during the day.
Next week, with the strengthening influence of the cyclone, the sky will remain cloudy, and several zones of precipitation will cross the country from the west. On Monday and Tuesday, rain is expected intermittently over most of the territory, with snowflakes observed in some places in the east during the night hours. On the night of Monday, icy conditions are possible in some areas in the east of the country. Some sections of the road will be slippery. Also, in the morning hours, fog will form in some places in the east, reducing visibility.
During these days, the southern and southeastern wind will strengthen, reaching gusts of 15–18 m/s in some coastal areas, but on Tuesday, the wind will shift from the southwest and west.
The air temperature at night will not drop below 0…+3 degrees, and during the day on Monday, the thermometer will rise to +1…+6 degrees in many places, even reaching +7 degrees on the Kurzeme coast. On Tuesday, the air will warm up to +6…+8 degrees.
From the middle of the week, the wind will strengthen and become gusty over a broader area. Both at night and during the day, the air temperature will remain positive, only by the end of the week will the thermometer drop below 0 degrees in some eastern regions.
