The Road Transport Directorate (RTD) plans to acquire passenger counting cameras for 3 million euros for those traveling by regional trains and buses, according to information in the electronic procurement system (EPS).
RTD has announced the start of consultations with camera suppliers.
The procurement includes the supply, installation, and maintenance of the cameras, the development and implementation of a data transmission solution, as well as warranty and post-warranty service. The use of artificial intelligence equipment and tools for analyzing passenger flow and more effective control measures is anticipated.
As a result of the procurement, it is planned to implement a passenger counting system in two-door buses of type 750 M3 and one-door buses of type 250 M2, while the required number of cameras for trains will be specified later. Concurrently, to ensure service continuity, the supplier must provide backup equipment amounting to at least 10% of the total number of cameras.
Discussions with suppliers are to be conducted in writing. Questions, comments, and recommendations regarding the documentation for the planned procurement can be submitted until December 8.
It is planned that the cameras should be supplied and tested by May 1, 2026. The contract is planned to be concluded for five years.
