On Friday, an event will be held in Riga in memory of the victims of the tragedy that occurred on November 21, 2013, in Zolitūde due to the collapse of the "Maxima" supermarket.
As reported by the representative of the society "Zolitūde 21.11." Regina Lochmele, this year, as in previous years, at 17:43, the moment the "Maxima" store collapsed, victims, relatives of the victims of the tragedy, and all those wishing to honor their memory will gather at the temporary memorial.
As a result of the supermarket collapse on November 21, 2013, 54 people died, and dozens sustained serious injuries. Construction experts concluded that the tragedy occurred due to incorrect load calculations on the roof structures, which led to its collapse.
The courts of the first two instances found only the construction engineer Ivars Sergetss guilty.
It is planned that on November 26, the Riga District Court will continue to review the criminal case regarding the Zolitūde tragedy, and an expert will appear in court to give testimony.
