“Dear sir, I would very much like to ask you — if your sewer manholes are now at least somewhat properly installed, the covers have sunk so deeply that when I walk on Brīvības Street between Gertrūdes and Stabu Streets, all the walls of my six-story building shake when a trolleybus or car passes by. When will you finally fix this?” — with this question, one of the viewers addressed the TV24 program "Uz līnijas", writes LA.LV.

The question was answered by the chairman of the board of "Rīgas ūdens" Krishjānis Krūmiņš, explaining why such a problem arises.

"This problem has been discussed more than once. It arises because builders want to complete the planned street construction project as quickly as possible," noted Krūmiņš.

According to him, "Rīgas ūdens" as a client monitors the quality of work carried out in its projects; however, Krūmiņš acknowledged that the company is not always the client of the construction, so the ability to control in such cases is limited.

At the same time, he emphasized that the problem is not denied and is being addressed step by step within a special program: "We have a program — every year we replace, work on, and monitor the condition of these wells."

Krūmiņš also added that "Rīgas ūdens" cannot always immediately improve the situation, partly because many streets are still under the warranty of the construction company: "It is most unfortunate that we cannot intervene on those streets where the contractor's warranty has not yet expired. But work is ongoing, and the problem is being resolved."
