Today in Latvia is a transferred working day, so Monday, November 17, will be a day off, reports LETA.
Since Monday, November 17, falls between Sunday, November 16, and the holiday on November 18, it has been moved to Saturday, November 8.
The Ministry of Welfare indicated that this will ensure the continuity of the work week from which the day is transferred, as well as provide more consecutive days off that employees can use at their discretion. Furthermore, the total number of working days in the calendar year will not change.
According to the Labor Law, if one working day in a work week falls between a holiday and the weekend, the employer may declare that day a day off and move it to Saturday of the same week or another week within the same month.
