On Lāčplēsis Day, November 11, and on the Day of the Proclamation of Latvia's Independence, November 18, honorary families will be able to travel for free on trains, representatives of the joint-stock company "Passenger Train" (PV) informed the LETA agency.
Free tickets for one trip during these festive days will be available for large families and families raising children with disabilities. They can be obtained at all PV ticket offices or from the conductor on the train; however, tickets with a 100% discount will not be available on the company's website or mobile app.
All family members can use the tickets — both parents and children.
To obtain a ticket, it will be necessary to present a valid "Honorary Family" (Goda ģimene) certificate along with an identity document or a student ID. Passengers must have all the listed documents with them not only at the time of ticket collection but also throughout the entire trip, emphasizes PV.
At the same time, the company reminds that the train schedule will change due to the holidays. Due to the shift of the working day, trains to Tukums, Jelgava, Aizkraukle, and Skulte on Saturday, November 8, will operate according to the working day schedule, while on November 17 and 18, they will follow the weekend schedule.
A number of trains will also operate on a modified schedule on November 9, 16, 17, and 18, so PV urges passengers planning trips towards Gulbene, Madona, Daugavpils, and Sigulda to pay special attention to the schedule during this period.
All current changes are posted on the PV website and mobile app.
The PV company was established in 2001 by separating domestic passenger transport from the functions of "Latvian Railways." Previously, PV was a 100% subsidiary of "Latvian Railways," but in October 2008, it was transformed into a state enterprise.
