“Where is the Great Latvian Wall?” A Shocking View from the Living Room Window in the Border Area

Facebook user Ilona posted a shocking video on her social media profile. The footage shows migrants who crossed the border into Latvia calmly walking on private property, reports Jauns.lv.

“If anyone still has doubts that next year’s budget should be a budget for security, watch this video,” Ilona wrote. “In broad daylight, a group of illegal migrants, three kilometers from the state border of Latvia, crosses a section of a private home in the Kraslava region. The group is coming from Belarus and doesn’t even try to bypass the area where the residential house and outbuildings are located. They are walking at their own pace — leisurely, not hiding. What do you think the homeowner feels seeing all this from the window?”

Later in the comments, Ilona clarified that the border guards were timely informed and the entire group was detained.

The State Border Guard confirmed to the Jauns.lv portal that they are aware of this video and that the circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated. Since it is still unclear when exactly the video was filmed — yesterday or two years ago — the Border Guard cannot provide further comments.

The video, which has garnered over 400,000 views on Facebook, has sparked a strong reaction from users. Numerous comments appeared under the post:

“Cancel their benefits, and no one will return. One day of work — and the so-called migration crisis will end. Why isn’t the Great Latvian Wall helping?”

“Wolves are not afraid to enter cities, migrants are not afraid to enter the country — this is what Europe has come to. It needs to change.”

“Latvians are leaving, and we are being brought cheap labor. They say these are migrants fleeing from Belarus — and under this pretext, they are closing the border. Wake up!”

“Some come illegally, while legal Indians have taken over delivery and taxi services. Where’s the logic? Everyone should be shocked — including Russian speakers.”

“Deport them. It’s already impossible to walk down the street — there are dark-skinned people at every turn, you have to yield the way.”

“And how do you know they are migrants? They have no backpacks or belongings.”

“Maybe they just came to visit?”

“Well, soon there will be more Latvians.”
