In Latvia, the unemployment rate is higher than the EU average

In September, the unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.4% and was higher than the average in the European Union (EU) and the eurozone, according to data from the EU statistical office Eurostat, released on Thursday.

According to this data, the highest unemployment rates among EU countries in September were in Spain (10.5%), Finland (9.8%), Sweden (8.7%), Greece (8.2%), France (7.6%), Estonia (7.4%), Lithuania (7%), and Luxembourg (6.9%).

The lowest unemployment rates in September were recorded in Malta and the Czech Republic (both 3%), Slovenia (3.1%), Poland (3.2%), and Bulgaria (3.5%).

The average unemployment rate in the EU, according to seasonally adjusted data, was 6%, which is the same as in August, while in the eurozone, unemployment remained at 6.3%.

According to Eurostat, in September, there were 13.246 million people unemployed in the bloc, of which 11.003 million were unemployed in the eurozone.
