Real estate experts observe that more and more families are moving to the center of Riga, where comfortable daily life can be combined with a quality urban environment.
According to LNK Properties, while families previously preferred suburban homes, an increasing number of people now want to return to the urban rhythm. This shift is related to changes in lifestyle — people are increasingly valuing time spent together rather than hours spent commuting. Living in the city center allows for more efficient day planning, access to the entire city infrastructure, and a dynamic yet peaceful lifestyle.
"We see that more and more families are choosing to live in the city center or are returning from the suburbs. People are tired of spending several hours in cars and traffic jams — they want more time for themselves, their children, and a fulfilling life. Therefore, there is a growing demand for spacious, comfortable apartments in a quiet center where everything necessary is nearby," experts say.
In their opinion, in recent years, the center of Riga has noticeably changed — it is becoming more vibrant and family-friendly. More families are consciously choosing to return to the city not only for convenience but also for life in an environment with character, history, and culture. Everything needed — schools, clubs, parks, and cafes — is within walking distance, creating a sense of a calm and harmonious rhythm. Meanwhile, the green areas of Riga are becoming increasingly well-maintained and improved, turning into comfortable places for family recreation.
However, statistics do not yet show significant movement towards the Latvian capital. According to data from the Central Statistical Bureau, the population of Riga at the beginning of 2023 was 610,000, at the beginning of 2022 it was 601,000, and at the beginning of 2025 it is projected to be 595,000 residents.
