Sigulda has always been a classic place to enjoy golden autumn. This season, the region invites you to appreciate not only the familiar leisure spots but also new attractions, the local government informed the LETA agency.
Autumn in Sigulda is not only about the bright colors of the Gauja Valley. After the renovation of the town center, the city has become particularly cozy — you can pop into a café and simply stroll through the beautiful streets. Outside the city, it is worth visiting the Ledurga dendrological park with a thousand species of trees and plants, the battle park at Mores, a deer farm, walking along the nature trail in Malpils, or checking out the local producers' fairs. You can also visit the Inčukalns Hunting Castle and the Velna Cave.
Sigulda is also a great place for active recreation. This season, new attractions have emerged: the first paddle tennis court in Vidzeme, "Mojo padel," and the "Sigulda Maze," where a walk turns into a game. There are also three disc golf courses, regular golf, and footgolf. For those who enjoy interactive games, mobile quests are available — "Tourist in Sigulda," "Expedition in Latvia," "Roadgames," and "Explore the Sigulda Region."
In the Turaida Museum Reserve, October is dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Krišjānis Barons — there will be hikes and other events, and a new outdoor exhibition titled "Natural Pearls" will be on display. On October 25, "Night of Legends" will take place at the New Castle of Sigulda — an atmosphere of the 1930s will be created here.
New cultural venues have also appeared in the region this autumn — the "Blaumanis" venue has opened in Sigulda, and the "Strawberry Estate" in Malpils hosts concerts and workshops. Near the Gauja River, the "Museum of Swindlers" has opened — a fun exhibition about poaching that complements the display about Gauja loggers.
Local cafés and restaurants offer seasonal dishes. In Malpils, homemade product markets take place twice a month — on the second and fourth Sundays — while the market in Sigulda hosts local product days.
