Are tips a sign of politeness, gratitude, or a mandatory requirement? Opinions are divided. It is a very common practice to leave tips in restaurants, but, as evidenced by the post on the site "X", there are cases where tips are even demanded... in a bakery.
“I almost always leave tips in restaurants and similar establishments, but today I was puzzled that in the bakery, after buying a takeaway croissant, I was offered to choose a tip amount on the payment terminal. Maybe we can agree that this American principle should not be introduced here,” writes Viesturs on the site "X".
Guntars: I never leave tips on the terminal. I pay electronically, tips are in cash. It feels more personal (it doesn’t matter that in bars there is often a system where they later put that money into a common pot and receive, for example, the chef).
Gatis: If a café does not respect the customer, it should be stopped visiting; the salaries of employees should be included in the price of the bun.
Deduktors: For POS vendors and payment systems, this is good business, so we can confidently expect that this American principle will be implemented.
Gunita: This is shameless. Negative reviews on Google for such establishments.
Ilze: As long as there is an option for 0, we can still live peacefully.
Imants: The next step will be to implement this in the case of self-service. (I saw it at the airport in a self-service buffet).
