Bruce Willis' wife Emma Heming has detailed for the first time how she explained the famous actor's diagnosis to their two younger daughters. According to her, the girls learned the truth from the very beginning and were able to find their own way to cope with the challenging situation.

As is known, the 70-year-old Hollywood actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023. When his wife explained to 14-year-old Mabel and 12-year-old Evelyn what this diagnosis means, the girls came up with their own amusing interpretation of the complex abbreviation — "Fantastic Dancing Turtles." According to Emma Heming, this helped them remember the name of the disease more easily.

In the podcast The Bossticks, she admitted that from the very beginning, she decided not to hide the truth from her daughters. However, she explained the situation very carefully, choosing words appropriate for their age.

"I just told them everything as it is, and then it was a matter of patiently waiting for questions and answering them honestly," Emma shared.

She noted that the girls are handling the situation with dignity and are trying to support their father.

The actor's wife also pointed out a common misconception related to dementia. According to her, many automatically associate this disease solely with memory loss, but in Bruce Willis' case, the illness primarily affects speech and the ability to communicate, rather than memories.

Let us remind you that Bruce Willis and Emma Heming got married in 2009. Mabel and Evelyn are the youngest of the actor's five daughters. The three older ones — Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah — were born during Willis' marriage to actress Demi Moore.

Bruce Willis' family continues to openly discuss the actor's battle with a serious illness. According to Emma Heming, honesty and support from loved ones help not only Willis himself but also his children cope with the difficult changes in the family's life.
