This evening, Latvia's representative Atvara will perform in the second semifinal of Eurovision in Vienna. The singer will perform the song "Ēnā" and compete for a place in the final of the competition, which will take place on Saturday.
In the second semifinal of Eurovision, Latvia will be represented by the singer Atvara with the song "Ēnā".
The competition is taking place in Vienna, and the Latvian performer will take the stage in the ninth position.
Alongside Latvia, participants from Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Romania, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Armenia, Switzerland, Cyprus, Denmark, Australia, Ukraine, Albania, Malta, and Norway will also compete for a spot in the final today.
As a result of the semifinal, only a portion of the participants will receive tickets to the grand final, which will take place on Saturday.
Without participating in the semifinals, spots in the final are already guaranteed for France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany — as the largest financial contributors to the competition. Austria, as last year's winning country, also automatically advanced to the final.
It is important to understand that for Latvia, reaching the final remains particularly significant, as the country has not always succeeded in advancing past the semifinal stage in recent years.
Atvara earned the right to represent Latvia after winning the national selection "Supernova" in February.
In the first semifinal, which took place earlier this week, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Israel, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Serbia, and Sweden have already advanced to the final.
This year's Eurovision is taking place in Austria following the victory of the performer JJ with the song "Wasted Love" at last year's competition.
Against the backdrop of political discussions and boycotts surrounding the participation of certain countries, the musical part of the competition continues to attract a multi-million audience across Europe.
For the Latvian singer, tonight's performance will be the highlight of the season — the results of the audience voting and assessments will determine whether Latvia can return to the final of the competition.
The live broadcast is at 10:00 PM on the LTV1 channel.
