Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has been urgently hospitalized in Portugal and underwent intestinal surgery. According to the artist's representatives, the surgery was successful, but the 74-year-old singer is currently in a medically induced coma for recovery.

The performer of global hits "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Holding Out for a Hero," Bonnie Tyler, was urgently hospitalized in Portugal.

Information about the singer's condition was reported on her official website and Facebook page. The statement says that Bonnie Tyler was taken to a hospital in the city of Faro, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery.

According to the artist's representatives, the surgery was successful, and she is currently recovering.

Later, a representative of the singer told the British newspaper The Guardian that Tyler had been placed in a medically induced coma to help her body recover after the surgical intervention.

The singer's family and team have asked fans to respect her right to privacy and promised to provide further details later.

The news has sparked a wide response among the singer's fans, whose music has remained popular for several decades.

Bonnie Tyler was scheduled to embark on a concert tour at the end of May. The first concert was planned for May 22 in Malta, after which the singer was set to perform in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey, Austria, the United Kingdom, Romania, Switzerland, Denmark, and Wales.

It is still unknown whether these concerts will be rescheduled or canceled.

In October of last year, the singer's concert in Riga was canceled.

A medically induced coma in such cases is used by doctors as a controlled state to reduce the strain on the body and assist recovery after major surgeries.

Bonnie Tyler became a global star in the 1980s thanks to her powerful husky vocals and hits like "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Holding Out for a Hero."

The song "Holding Out for a Hero" also received a new wave of popularity thanks to the movie "Footloose."

Despite her long career, the singer continued to actively perform and release music in recent years. In 2023, she released her autobiography "Straight from the Heart," dedicated to her 50-year career.
