Colombian superstar Shakira held a free concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. According to authorities, the performance gathered around 2 million people.
This performance was preceded by similar shows by Madonna in 2024 and Lady Gaga last year, which also drew huge crowds.
For Shakira, this concert was part of her world tour Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran ("Women No Longer Cry"), named after her 2024 album. The megastar fondly recalled her first visit to Brazil, which took place nearly thirty years ago.
"I came here at 18, dreaming of singing for you. And now look at this. Life is magic," Shakira addressed the audience shortly after taking the stage.
The concert became one of the largest in her tour and once again confirmed the singer's global status. For Shakira, this performance was particularly symbolic — decades later, she returned to where she once only dreamed of such an audience.
