Singer Sofia Rotaru was offered a large fee for a short performance, but she refused to take the stage. According to her former director, the artist believes that now is not the time for concerts.
Sofia Rotaru refused to perform at a corporate event in Dubai. Her former concert director Sergey Lavrov said that the singer was offered to perform just five songs for €200,000.
"People are calling, wanting to invite her to events, but she doesn’t want to, unfortunately, she doesn’t want to at all. They offered €200,000 for five songs. It was a performance in Dubai. She refused. She said, 'While there are hostilities, it’s not the time for concerts,'" Lavrov stated.
A similar statement was made in 2024 by another People's Artist of the USSR — Alla Pugacheva. "While somewhere something is shooting — the birds are silent," she said in response to a question about returning to the stage.
Despite the fact that the performer of the hits "Lavender," "Just This Is Not Enough," and "Khutoranka" will turn 79 this year, she is still in good shape, noted her former manager.
Rotaru's decision resonates with Alla Pugacheva's position and emphasizes that for some artists, creative activity is directly related to the external situation. Despite her rare appearances, the singer, as noted by those close to her, remains in excellent shape.
