The Duke of Sussex shared his heartfelt experience, emphasizing that deep self-work became a key stage in his preparation for the role of a parent.
Prince Harry candidly revealed that even before the birth of his first child, son Archie, he was actively working with a therapist. His goal was to free himself from the burdens of the past, as he expressed: "I knew I had things from my past that I needed to deal with, so I had to clear them out." He understood that such deep inner work was necessary for effective parenting.
This frank conversation took place during the four-day visit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Australia, which began on April 14. Today, as reported by the Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex attended an event for the charity Movember, which addresses important issues of men's health. It was there, in a warm conversation with those gathered, that Harry firmly stated that the most effective preparation for the arrival of a child is the therapy he underwent before experiencing the joy of fatherhood.
Harry also emphasized that his parenting style is radically different from what he witnessed in his childhood. Unlike his father, King Charles III, he strives for maximum openness and dialogue with his children. "There are conversations happening in our family now that never happened between me and my parents," the prince noted with noticeable emotion.
The prince does not hide that he is aware of his privileged position. Working from home gives him the invaluable opportunity to spend almost all his free time with his children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet. This is why, as he admitted, it is vital for him to "be the best version of myself" around them, protecting them from any wounds and disappointments.
The Path to a New Life
It is worth reminding that Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle, who married in 2018, made a fateful decision. In 2020, they stepped back from their royal duties, left foggy London, and settled in the USA.
After this decisive step and break from the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their story multiple times. They gave a resonant interview to Oprah Winfrey and participated in a documentary where they openly discussed their life at the Windsor court.
Family Affairs and Business Projects
Currently, the family happily resides in picturesque Montecito, raising their two beloved children — Archie and Lilibet.

Meghan and Harry have their own production company, but no new projects have been announced for a long time. Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex is actively developing her personal business — the home goods brand As Ever. Recently, unfortunately, Netflix terminated its contract with this platform. There are persistent rumors that Meghan visited Australia specifically to promote her company's products, where she registered several trademarks in advance. Additionally, not long ago, Meghan hosted her own cooking show "With Love, Meghan," which, sadly, was canceled after the second season due to rather modest ratings. Even the most devoted fans of the Duchess of Sussex on social media could not resist making jokes about her overly simple recipes, which, however, required very expensive ingredients.
