Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Conquered K-pop: How the Star's Daughter Passed the Audition Without Protection

K-pop artist Dayoung shared her concerns about the sudden fame that fell upon Shiloh, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, after her participation in the music video.

K-pop performer from South Korea, Dayoung, whose new music video recently gained fame thanks to the participation of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter, firmly denied the rumors. She stated that 19-year-old Shiloh joined her project not because of her famous parents' influence.

Anonymous Audition and Bright Talent

According to the artist, Shiloh showcased her skills at the dancer auditions anonymously, but her charisma and talent were evident even before she started moving.

"She participated on equal terms at the open audition in Los Angeles. About 700 people applied, of which 200 passed the in-person selection, and each of them had to master our choreography in 15 minutes. We grouped them into teams of seven and assigned them numbers. Then each group went out and danced simultaneously while we evaluated them and made our selections," Dayoung said on KBS Cool FM.

Dayoung still vividly remembers that Shiloh, performing under the pseudonym Shi, had number 7.

"She was wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt and straight Zara jeans. They weren’t super trendy jeans, just regular ones. Although other candidates came dressed as brightly as I am now. But the moment she started dancing, the atmosphere in the room changed. So I immediately told the director: 'Oh, I like her. I definitely want to choose her,'" the singer recalled.

Unexpected Revelation of Identity

The artist admitted that Shi's identity was revealed to her only upon returning to Korea, after the filming was completed.

"We worked well together, and only after I returned to Korea and we started making the credits for the video did I realize who she was. Of course, I was shocked. Because, to be honest, when we were rehearsing and filming the video, we didn’t ask the dancers the question: 'What do your parents do?'. Usually, you don’t inquire about such things," she laughed.

Concern for the Young Star

Dayoung emphasized that she is "most concerned" about Shiloh, as she is "really very young" and has now come under the public's close scrutiny.

"I was very careful. For her sake, I specifically did not announce her participation in the video. If she wanted to, she would have told about it herself. But then everyone already found out about it after the teaser was released. I think there was nothing more to be done about it," Dayoung noted.

When asked about the content of their English conversations with Shiloh, Dayoung replied that they were purely casual dialogues and discussions about work-related matters.

"Actually, there was nothing special, just the usual everyday conversations. Like, we ate together and rehearsed… something like that. She was curious: 'Dayoung, how should I play this role? How would you like me to move here?'" she recalled.

"Shi really has a great passion for dancing. And, as far as I know, this was her first K-pop video. So, I think it was a good opportunity for her," Dayoung concluded.

Dayoung's video for the track What’s a Girl to Do, featuring Shiloh, garnered over a million views in three days, although the singer's popularity was relatively modest prior (just over 700,000 followers on Instagram). Nevertheless, the debut of Jolie and Pitt's daughter sparked mixed reactions online.
