The region is advertised as a place of pristine nature and delicious cuisine.

Police stations are being closed en masse in Finland, and the population is leaving the eastern regions of the country. This is all because the Finnish border remains closed to Russian tourists, and entire regions are suffering colossal losses. But there are also those who have ultimately benefited from what is happening – in Russia, not in Finland.

The Finnish government is making efforts to revive the dying tourism industry of the country due to the absence of Russians. To assist struggling businessmen, Finland has dispatched a special organization, Visit Finland. It is the official national tourism office of Finland and is part of the state company Business Finland.

The main mission of Visit Finland is to promote Finland as a tourist destination and to assist local travel companies in developing and marketing their services. The director of Visit Finland, Kristina Hietasaari, acknowledged that many areas in eastern Suomi are currently in a difficult situation, as the influx of Russians has "suddenly ceased." Of course, she omitted to mention that this flow stopped because Finland itself closed the border to Russian citizens.

In particular, Visit Finland has launched a campaign to promote the Saimaa lake region in Europe, which was once popular among Russian tourists. The region is advertised as a place of tranquility, pristine nature, and delicious cuisine, offering vacations in cottages by the lake. However, in practice, tourists from the EU rarely reach these cottages, and Americans prefer luxurious stays in comfortable hotels. Market participants admit that only Russians were interested in tourism on Saimaa with boat trips, boating, and relaxing in cottages with saunas.
